Polished Concrete in New Jersey: The Low-Maintenance Showroom Finish

Polished concrete isn't a coating — it's the slab itself, refined. By progressively diamond-grinding the existing concrete with finer and finer abrasives and chemically densifying the surface, we transform a dull gray slab into a reflective, abrasion-resistant floor that needs no wax, no resin, and no replacement for decades. It's the standard finish in Apple stores, modern dealerships, and high-end NJ showrooms for a reason.

How polished concrete is actually made

The process is mechanical, not chemical. We start with coarse metal-bond diamonds to flatten the slab and expose aggregate, then move through progressively finer resin-bond diamonds (100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000 grit). A lithium silicate densifier is applied mid-process to harden the surface, and a final burnish brings the floor to a glass-like sheen.

  • Diamond grinding through 6–8 grit steps
  • Lithium or sodium silicate chemical densifier
  • Optional dye for color (acetone or water-based)
  • Final stain guard to repel oil and water
  • Gloss levels: matte, satin, semi-polished, high-polish

Where polished concrete makes the most sense

Anywhere foot traffic is high, lifecycle cost matters, and a clean industrial-modern aesthetic fits the brand. We install polished concrete across NJ in auto dealerships, breweries, retail stores, restaurants, gyms, warehouses, and modern residential lofts.

  • Auto dealerships & showrooms
  • Retail flagships and boutiques
  • Restaurants, cafés, and breweries
  • Warehouses and distribution centers
  • Loft-style residential conversions

What it costs in NJ

Polished concrete in New Jersey typically runs $5–$12 per square foot depending on gloss level, dye, slab condition, and aggregate exposure. Cream polish (no aggregate exposure) sits at the low end; salt-and-pepper and full-aggregate exposure runs higher because more grinding passes are required.

Maintenance is almost nothing

Sweep daily, damp-mop with a neutral pH cleaner weekly, and burnish once every 12–24 months to restore the sheen. No stripping, no waxing, no recoating. A polished concrete floor installed today will outlive every other finish in the building.

Frequently asked questions

Can any concrete slab be polished?

Most can. The slab needs to be structurally sound and at least 3,000 psi. Heavily damaged, oil-saturated, or topping slabs may need repair or an overlay first — we evaluate on-site.

Is polished concrete slippery?

When dry, it has a higher coefficient of friction than waxed VCT. When wet it can be slick — we add a slip-resistant additive to the stain guard for wet-prone areas.

How long does the install take?

A 5,000 sq ft retail space typically takes 4–6 days. We schedule overnight and weekend phases to keep your business open.
