How polished concrete is actually made
The process is mechanical, not chemical. We start with coarse metal-bond diamonds to flatten the slab and expose aggregate, then move through progressively finer resin-bond diamonds (100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000 grit). A lithium silicate densifier is applied mid-process to harden the surface, and a final burnish brings the floor to a glass-like sheen.
- Diamond grinding through 6–8 grit steps
- Lithium or sodium silicate chemical densifier
- Optional dye for color (acetone or water-based)
- Final stain guard to repel oil and water
- Gloss levels: matte, satin, semi-polished, high-polish
