Demolition in New Jersey: Controlled Removal Done Right

Demolition is the unglamorous first chapter of every renovation, addition, and rebuild. Done sloppily, it damages the structures you wanted to keep, creates surprise costs, and leaves the site a hazard. Done correctly, it's surgical — only the targeted material comes out, neighboring surfaces stay protected, debris leaves the site immediately, and the next trade walks onto a clean, ready substrate.

What we demolish

Most of our demo work supports our own coatings and hardscape installs — but we also handle standalone demolition for general contractors, designers, and homeowners across NJ.

  • Concrete slabs, driveways, walkways, and patios
  • Interior partition walls, soffits, and dropped ceilings
  • Tile, vinyl, hardwood, and failed floor coatings
  • Pool decks, copings, and old paver installs
  • Garage floors, basement slabs, and stoops
  • Site clearing, brush removal, and rough grading

Protection — the difference between a pro and a wrecker

Before any breaker touches the surface, we mask off adjacent walls, floors, fixtures, and landscape. Plastic sheeting on doorways for dust containment, ram-board on protected floors, plywood over windows for slab breakup, and tarps over plantings. We leave the site cleaner than we found it.

Dust, noise, and neighbor management

Concrete demolition is loud and dusty by nature. We use water-suppression on breakers and saws to control silica dust (OSHA Table 1 compliant), schedule heavy work for permitted hours, and notify adjacent properties before we start. For interior demo we run HEPA negative-air machines to keep dust contained to the work zone.

Permits and disposal

Most NJ municipalities require demolition permits for interior tear-outs over a threshold and for any structural work. We pull the permits, handle the dumpsters, and provide weight tickets and recycling documentation. Concrete is crushed and recycled as base aggregate whenever possible — it's cheaper than landfill and the right environmental call.

What it costs in NJ

Concrete slab removal in New Jersey typically runs $3–$8 per square foot depending on thickness, reinforcement, and access. Interior demolition runs $4–$12 per square foot of affected area. Disposal and dumpster fees are usually itemized separately so you see exactly what's going where.

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle the dumpster and disposal?

Yes — disposal, dumpster scheduling, weight tickets, and recycling are all included in our scope unless you specifically want to handle them separately.

Can you demo a slab without damaging the slab next to it?

Yes — we saw-cut a clean separation line first, then break only the targeted section. The adjacent slab stays untouched and ready for the new pour to tie into.

How fast can you mobilize?

For most NJ projects we can be on-site within 1–2 weeks of contract. Emergency demo (storm damage, failed slab) can usually be expedited to 24–72 hours.
